About This Project

Can one trillion simulated brackets produce a perfect bracket for the NCAA tournament?

What This Is

This site generates one trillion NCAA tournament brackets using Monte Carlo simulation before the tournament starts, then tracks how many remain perfect as games are played.

How This Started

I make several brackets every year in hopes of farming clout online by reaching the 99th percentile in any of them. I knew the odds of even getting through the first round perfectly were dreadful.

But last year, my friend Parker said somebody should be able to make a perfect bracket with enough computing power and time. I argued the odds were impossibly low. But as a guy with computing power and time, here we are.

After running the numbers I found it could happen. Unlikely, but possible.
